HAVE FUN... WITH DR HOUSE

Do you like to watch Dr. House?

Asthma: "Do I look like an idiot?" from Gabe Perez on Vimeo.

Let me tell you about two movies I have recently watched.
I have watched the two Oscar winning movies: The Black Swan and The King's Speech.
Both of them have something great to tell us. What the former has told me is that there is always a white and a dark side in each of us and that each masterpiece, each accomplishment, needs sacrifice.

Have you seen them? What ideas did you find interesting in King's Speech? how about Black Swan?

You can also tell us about another interesting movie you have seen BUT PLEASE DO NOT RETELL THE MOVIE SUBJECT, write ONLY about what you have learned from it ( DON'T WRITE MORE THAN 50 WORDS)

Looking forward to your movie suggestions!

  1. I haven't seen those movies, but i've seen a good film a couple of days ago, London Boulevard. This movie is about a man recently released from prison who starts working as a bodyguard for an actress, but at the same time he becomes involved with a dangerous gangster. I learned from this movie that some people become criminals against their will, and there is nothing they can do.

  3. Hi Adriana,
and what is your opinion (not the film's) about our possibility to choose what we want to become?

  4. I haven't seen the films you said. Last days I watched SHADOW BOXER, a film which I saw already twice. It is about a killer who outside is hard and inside is sentimental. The woman, who is the stepmother of the boxer, has cancer. In one of the missions she should kill a pregnant woman but she decides to help her to deliver her baby and then both of the killers take care about the baby and his mother. In the end they will be a family, but the stepmother wants to be shot by his son because she asked for it.
I learned that every moment can change our life, and we never know what will happen and what our reaction will be. So as I told you: NEVER SAY NEVER!!!

  5. I haven't seen the two movies you talked about, so I will tell you about a movie I have seen recently for the second time.
It's "7 years in Tibet". The movie presents the real storie of an austrian alpinist, who ends up in the holy city of Lhasa, where he meets the young Dalai Lama, only 14 years old at the time. A special relation is born between this two, from which each have a lot to learn. Dalai Lama learns about european history and mean while he transforms the foreigners soul and teaches him about true humility. The movie also showes the brutal way in which history comes to this peaceful society.
After seven years spent in the buddist world, the austrian returns to his native country, a changed man, decided to fix past mistakes.
Althougt it's a dramatic movie, I liked it because it showes how much destiny, courage and events have changed a man.

  6. I don't think that we can control what we become, because there are a lot of things that can change our life in a second.

  7. I agree that not totally, but if not, why do we go to further education? why do we obey the traffic rules? why don't all of us steal, kill, etc??

  8. Because we all try to improve ourselves, to make our lifes as good as possible, but you can't control every aspect of your life. You never know what awaits for you tommorow.

  9. A few hours ago I have seen "The King's Speech" and I found it very interesting.I really liked The Duchess of York because she suported and helped her husband, The Duke of York in everything and she was a lovely woman and wife. Also I learned that if you meet someone and that person helps and suports you in everything, that person may become one of your best friends. It doesn`t matter what is his place in society. Finally, I was glad that the Duke of York became The King and he succeded to overcome his fault, the suttering.

  11. A while ago I saw the movie Two Weeks Notice is a funny movie, full of romance. For those who have not seen the the movie, I can say that activism can bring the love your way. At least for Lucy (Sandra Bullock), a lawyer which cares about her opinions and which is able to put herself in front of a bulldozer, just to make a point. Fighting for such a case, she met George (Hugh Grant). The two get to work together, furthermore each knows that the other person has something that can not be obtain separate: Lucy needs George just to be ensure that a building which she cares a lot will not be and George needs a secretary. As it happens in the nice stories, Lucy and George get to spend more time together than they had ever imagined, so long that George needs Lucy to choose his tie. Sandra is the ace in the comedy, the scene with envelopes and glue or playing tennis are just a few of my favorite moments from the film. Would be some more, but the rest you must discover on your own. I liked Two Weeks Notice, because is a farce with no complications, but with a special subject: also the enemies can to fall in love with each other.

  12. I have only seen The Black Swan and though I find the ideas it portrais really interesting I think the director or writier did a really bad job on it. It combines drama, horror, comedy and all kind of gendres that don't mix well. I really liked Lars and the real girl. Though the beginning is a bit boring the story is catching and after the first 20 minutes you really want to see what happens next. Lars is a very religious and shy man that has never had a girlfriend. He orders an inflatable one online and the doctor says he is dellusional. Everybody in the community goes along with it in order to make Lars feel better. In the end, he grows up, kills his dellusion and falls in love with a real girl. It is a touching movie and I recommand it.

  13. Hi Petruta, Ana-Maria, and ALL THE OTHER STUDENTS!

Please re-read what you have to do: you don't have to retell the movie. Just what you have learnt from it!

  14. The movie 'Meet the parents' has some interesting ideas to transmit. One of them is that even though your lover's parents don't like you and they argue with you a lot, if you truely love that person, this wouldn't matter.

  15. I haven't seen those movies, but I tell you about a movie that I liked very much to.It's called "Closer."I learned from that movie that we must always take care of our relationship and we have to appreciate the person next to us.

  16. Hi,teacher!Yes I saw The Black Swan,it was a really impressive movie.
The film from which I learned something is Orient Express, directed by Sergiu Nicolaescu. I learned from this movie that life must be lived with wisdom, so reaching at the old age to accept your fate that life has not gone in vain because you always knew you enjoy it.

  19. Hello Teacher
I saw " Over Sleep ". It's a real comedy. It's about one girl and her parents are very strict with her. When the parents go outside the girl makes crazy things. What i learned from this movie?? I have learned that if you keep the kid inside when you go outside he/she will do something stupid. There was a saying: when the cat is away, the mice will play.

From this movie I learned that some of us need more time to grow up and the only way to do isn'tby force but through love from your family and friends.

  21. One memorable part I keep with me from “The King’s Speech” is where the main character is asked to shut up but he asks “then what for do I have a voice/mouth but to speak”. I felt like smiling but at the same time I felt sad. And this is because so many people talk but they talk about nothing. Nothing that can change someone’s life or thought … And I think that “Dr. House” hates people that undermine his intelligence.

  22. I have also seen “Black Swan”,but “The King`s Speech” I haven`t seen it,even if it is kind of waiting for me because I`ve alrealy downloaded it, I didn`t have the time to wach it.
However,I`m completely agreeing with the message you told us that Black Swan transmitted you. It is the true message and the message we all must understand from this movie.
I can`t teel anything yet about “The King`s Speech”,but I will write about another interesting movie I`ve seen. It`s not so new like “The Rite” for example(wich is an amazing movie),it a bit older, but it has a deep message. The movie is called “Youth without Youth”. It is about a man that after it was strucked by a lightning,he healed in a strange way. He became young again and so on . But whatsoever with the subjet, the thing is,I mean the message that I captured from this movie was that we always find in our past something that we regret for,but we must let it go,because if we always think about our losses,we`ll become obssesed about some ideas and we will not keep living in the present,we`ll live in the traces of the past. Hope you like it if you see it. Bye!

  23. My favorite movie is "Sweet November" is an love story incredible. This movie made me appreciate more the people around me because I do not know what will happen tomorrow. It is a film that awakens all the feelings, from joy to sadness. I try to make happy the person next to me and take advantage of good times together. My advice is that every person who loves to not give up fight for his love and keep close. Love can appear suddenly ....
I suggest you watch this movie and sure you will like.

  27. I have to say that this scene is so funny. But nobody's perfect and we can't control our destiny.Sure this is just a movie but sometimes life is a joke.

  28. I have not seen any of these films, but there is a film that has marked me a long time...it is "The Gladiator" ...besides actors, decors, clothing, the perfect scenes...I learned from it that everything we do bad on this life has a price "I will have my revenge in this life or the other one" this is what a Roman general said when his family was murdered in a cruel way and came to Rome as a gladiator. Sooner or later we must pay for our facts, mostly the worse one...therefore we must think twice before acting inappropriate.

  33. I have seen The Black Swan, and I found it very interesting. The idea that each person has two sides which dominate at a certain time or in a certain situation fascinates me because I was always interested in human nature and how they react when put in a certain situation.

  34. An entire life can be changed by a single action or news. This is what I've learned from the last movie I saw: “Braking bed”. Would your life change if a doctor would say that you have cancer?
    P.S. I love “Dr. House”!

  35. Hello Teacher.
I saw the Black Swan and I think it was amazing.I enjoyed it very much. I learned that if rare things happen to us, we always intend to find a simplistic explanation , and of course that we have a negative an a positive side. About the other movie,"The King's Speech " I downloaded it but didn't had the time to see it.
I saw recently the " Last song " movie . It's actually sad , but what I learned from it, its that you always have to keep close to you the persons that you love.

  36. i have only seen black swan, but i think it was to complicated for me, i don't really like those kind of movies.
Schindler's list was a movie that i find interesting. 1'st of all because it's an historical movie, and second because it showed me a glimps of how bad the holocaust was for those poor people.

  37. I haven't seen the two movies you talked about, so I will tell you about one other mouvie.
“The ugly truth”is a comedie. One of my favorite mouvie. I really like comedies. For me, the film's message that dare to be yourself. Only a short time you can show ourselves to others. People are accepted, and loved it, as you are. The most important thing is what I expect myself to own and be living.
The other message for me is to not live according to ideals.

  38. From the movie "Book of Eli" I learned that life is a trip where you make a lot of friends but also enemies. You need to be careful because life gives you a lot of oportunities and you need to choose your way.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I have seen "127 hours" and I learned that sometimes in some parts of our life we are puted in the situation when we need to solve our problems or mistakes alone or we need to pay for them. Also sometimes we need to take desperate measures to get out of trouble but this also requires patience because without patience you can't do anything. Also it's better if you ask someone before you take the action.

  40. I haven't seen the two movies. The movie I want to recommend is "Slumdog Millionaire" and it taught me that even if the whole world is against you. even if you are poor, even if all you find in your way are obstacles and problems, you don't have to despair, you have to be courageous,to trust yourself, to choose your own road, to fight all your battles and to keep your faith and your hope awake. Another movie which had almost the same message is "Say YES".

  41. I haven't seen those movies, but I will tell you about another interesting movie.” Click” is about a man who receives a magical remote controller that allows him to flash back, stop and fast forward through time. It gets you to think about life’s moments and how every moment is no less important than another.
