In this task you are going to write an 80 word narration (80 means +/- 10 words) about the following topic: AN EXPERIENCE THAT CHANGED MY LIFE. We all have moments, experiences, people that in one way or another changed our lives a little or to a greater extent. Don't forget to check the verbs in the past tense before you submit your comment.
This is my own example. I was a student in the IXth grade of a technical high-school. One day our Romanian teacher asked us if we would like to take part in the local olympics and I said yes. I won the first place and then had to enrol to the next phases. He made me aware of the fact that I had more literary and artistic inclinations and that it was a pity for me to continue the technical career. This early experience changed my life as it helped me discover myself.
Last summer I visited my cousin. In the evening we went out with our friends and decided to go to Bezid next day. There I met a boy who was deaf-mute and I was a little scared about how I will communicate with him. Those 4 days we spent there were enough to realize how many things are in our lifes that we don't appreciate. I learned that we must appreciate our health, our abilities, our family and friends. It was an experience that totally changed my life and the way I are....
ReplyDeleteHi Szidonia,
ReplyDeletenow I know where you used that expression. No, you cannot use the form of the second person, but you can use the present tense, even if it is in a past context. So you could write: That experience totally changed my life and the way I am.
BTW, we call that type of person "deaf and dumb".
I agree with you that, unfortunately, we take so many things for granted.
Ten years ago, I had an amazing experience that changed my life, made it better and at the same time it teached me how to apreciate everything more than before. We were in a trip in France, in a very known pilgimage place, Lourdes. I never believed that there are so many christian people in Europe, and there are so many people sick, and with a lot of problems, which leave everything behind and come to this place with the hope of improving their health and to solve some of their problems. You cand find there hundreds of thousands of people with problems, that helped me change my life.
ReplyDeleteThe experience that changed my life was the moment I become Mother. It was the moment I realized that I have much more responsibilities and everything I do will influence my sons life too. Then started my fears about how good mother I will be, or if I will face all the duties of being a parent, but also I found out for the first time how good is the feeling that I gave a life. All that fears was re payed in time, with many special moments that my son gave to me.
ReplyDeleteMaria, this is a very toucing, human and special event that changed your life.
ReplyDeleteI hope you will learn from this comment that wehn you speak from a past perspective all the verbs have to be in the past.
So you say I BECAME a mother. I realized that I HAD MANY more responsibilities and everything I DID, WOULD influence my son's life too. Then MY FEARS started (first submect, then predicate) about how good A mother I WOULD be or if I WOULD face all the duties of being a parent... all the fears PAID OFF in time...
The moment that changed my life was when I turned 18 years old.I had to build my own life starting from naught. The first tast I had was to find a decent job for earning money.Life taught me from early ages that it wasn't pink.It was an age when your mind developes and you had to do it right for the future.
ReplyDeleteA moment that changed my life was when I lost my grandfather. He was a character very important in my life and I always tought that he would live for ever. It was then when I realized that life is very short and I would had to apreciate more the persons near my because one may never knew when it all ended.
ReplyDeleteTeacher... WHEN... :)
ReplyDeleteThe moment when my life changed was this year in mid September when my best friend lost her mother who suffered from cancer. Everything happened so fast I still do not believe it's true. It was a special person to me that I have often considered as my mother and every time I saw her she would give me a motherly advice. When she died I realized that I had to value every moment with my loved ones because life is very short and full of surprises, not knowing that everything can come to an end.
ReplyDeleteThe moment when my life changed was when I finished college succsessfuly but I did not have many opportunities to go to University so, I started working in a company in my town like secretary. After two years, because of the economic crisis and also from the fact that I didn`t have higher education I lost my job.
ReplyDeleteAs a result, I had ambition and I searched all the possibilities to go to University to study ECTS.:) And now, here I am, and I`m very proud beacuse I study at Dimitrie Cantemir University because I know that one day, when I will get the diplome I will have more possibilities to get o better job and I will fight very hard to have a bright future!
An important moment in my life was when I heared that my mother's illness recurred and that the first operation failed.
ReplyDeleteAlthough she had many treatments the only escape was a new operation. When the doctor told me it was awful because he said that cancer can be started, and he did not have too many hopes in the success of the second surgery. Fortunately everything was fine. After this experience I learned to appreciate every moment spent with my mother.
I want to tell you about a terrifying happening: I was 13 year old. A spider beat me by my left hand; my father took me to a hospital. I remember that I was preoccupied to read and do my homework, but a few days after, I realized that the situation was a lot more delicate. My parents were very worried. Every doctor who saw me said that I had 20 % chances to leave. After those weeks my life was completely changed. I’ve took advantage by every moment in my life. Now I can say that I am lucky to leave.:)
ReplyDeleteRoxana,
ReplyDeletedid you mean to say 20% chances to LIVE?
I also have a story with a spider beating me by the hand. I was in Moscow at that time, about 20 years ago, visiting as a toursit. My hand swell and I had to see a doctor, but it was just an allergy, not a deadly bite! Lucky us.
Hello teacher,
ReplyDeleteYes,I meant to say 20 % chances to live and that I am lucky to live..:),sorry for the mistake.I am happy for you because it was just an allergy and as you said in the end..LUCKY US..:)
Have a nice day.
When I was in the primary, I participated in a competition, where, for my surprize, I won a trip, as a prize. This encouraged me, so I continued to participate in competitions in the same subject. Since then, I have always been busy with these kind of activities.
ReplyDeleteI will spoke about a very sad experience of my life..
ReplyDeleteI was working in a bar,it was summer,I got a call that my father is in Targu Mures at the hospital and he was very sick...he was into a coma for 5 days because the doctors give him the wrong pills that made him to a kidney failure, when I heard that ugly news I think that my soul will broke apart and I had no reason to live.. but in the end my father healed and that experience marked me and forced me to mature and to watch the life differently.
My life changed last year when I started the university at Petru Maior.Initially it was interesting to me and there anything was new and I learned many things about economie and that was an extra thing in my mind. But I spoiled that year while I didn`t learned enough and I didn`t succeed all of my exams, and I didn`t liked that university because in my opinion that place is a little bit communist. And with this reason I came onto this university. With this I obtained many experiences what changed my life.
ReplyDeleteAn important moment that changed my life was when I finished school and started working in Budapest,I learned many things about life and how hard is to earn your own money and how to live with responsibilities.
ReplyDeleteHello.I don't have a special experience, but I will talk about this year when I was to work in Germany. That was a pretty interesting experience, because I worked in a Turkish bar. There I met many Turks and I could see how those people are and I learned many things about their culture and about their food. That was for me a beautiful experience.
ReplyDeleteHi!I had many experience(sad-bad,beautiful-nice), in my life because I work with people and I think that, life is short and you have to enjoy for all the moments even is sad or beautiful.Last year I had the opportunity to work in France, was a positive experience because I learned many things about their culture(high class).
ReplyDeleteKrisztina,
ReplyDeleteyou made us curious - what did you learn actually? This is what we expect you to tell us.
The most important moment of my life was the day when I walked through the gates of my high school, Alexandru Papiu Ilarian. Everything seemed imposing and I felt really small. In time I grew,I learned frommy teachers and peers. I didn't even realise how 4 years went by. When I finished high schoolI felt like I was imposing and the building was small.
ReplyDeleteIn three words I can sum up everything I've learned about life...it goes on! I had bad and positive experiences, but nothing that really shocked me.Somehow I was always prepared. My life wasn't so easy. Some things radically changed my life, but I always tried to take the best of it. I can say that I learned more about others mistakes.I had a couple of journeys in the last 3 years whit my friends.I met other cultures ,met new and different people seen great places like Paris, Copenhagen, Holland. Trips that made me happy :)
ReplyDeleteAn experience that changed life it happened about three weeks ago. It was when my father had a car accident. He is OK, but even if it wasn't his fault a women had died in that accident. Once with the accident a lot of problems had come into my life and to my family and we all changed in a way. This accident marked all of us and it was then when I realized how important life is.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was in the 7th garde with my friends we did a lots of crazy thing with our bikes. We always wanted to do something new even more exciting, even more crazy. One day when i tried to do a trick that i saw on tv I fell off my bike and hurt myself really bad.But I was a tough boy and i didn't went to the doctor, only after a week when I cuoldn't take the pain no more. When they made some analysis the doctor said that I need to be operated immediatly because i have some serious inertnal hemoragy. After the operation he said that if I would stayed home for another 2-3 hours I probably was dead by that time, and that I'm not aloud to do trial biking never in my life again. So when i got out of the hospital I sold my bike, and I realizd how voulnerable we people are.
ReplyDeleteHi Botond_Zsolt,
ReplyDeletea really impressive story from which you've learnt a lot - you know what they say: learning from experience is the best. Sometimes we have to learn from others' faults, what do you think about that?
BTW,
1. I is always capital letter, don't forget!
2. Also, pay attention to the negative past: I didn't GO;
3. You can't use double negation: I couldn't BEAR (not take) the pain ANY MORE... I'm not allowed to do trial biking EVER again.
4. Then the 'if clause' is a really difficult grammar problem: If I HAD STAYED home for another 3 hours I WOULD HAVE BEEN DEAD...
I hope you will remember these 4 things from now on, will you?
One of the moments that changed my life took place last year. While I was driving to the local store to pick up some of the grocery my mother had sent me to buy, I suddenly noticed a car appeared out of nowhere in front of me and I hit it because I was careless and wasn't paying attention to the road.
ReplyDeleteWhen I got home I had a bad argue with my parents. Because that was my first accident, I now pay alot more attention to the road.
Sergiu,
ReplyDeleteI hope you are not going to forget this decision even if it will not be so fresh in your memory!
In my life I had a lot of experiences which changed me.One of the most important was when I went to highschool, there was a radical change in my character.I was more open to talk with my colleagues and with others.A nother experience was when I whent to work outside and I understood how hard it is to earn money, this also changed my thinking and made me think more seriously about the future. So these are just a couple of my experiences which helped me to build my character.
ReplyDeleteSomething that changed my life. It is so hard to decide because I think that there were many things and people who helped me better myself. But most and most I learned from my grandmother, her old school teachings have saved me even to this day. You wonder now, how she could come up with something to say whenever you had problems or just felt a little off. Her words often sounded corny but I loved them even more. Eg. :”What was done is done even today. No reason to sulk.
ReplyDeleteNot alot of things happened in my life that could mark me in such a way that I would never forget. I guess one of them which was pretty nasty was when I went swimming with my friends. The weather was bad but it was hot outside and so we decided to went for a swim. The wind became stronger and all my friends got out of the water but I thought it was still ok to swim. Suddenly I felt like I was losing control so I yelled and my friends came and got me out. I wasn't scared but after when I thought a bit about what could happen to me I got a shiver going through all my body...
ReplyDeleteThe majority says that everything that happens to us ,is for a reason.Ok.But ,that reason is that we have to learn something from that happening.
ReplyDeleteRecently I experienced something. It was in a Friday ,somewhere to 6 o'clock in the evening.I wanted to go out.I asked for my father's car;and he gived it to me.But before I went from home,he told me to take care ,because outside the road was frozen.I told him:'yes yes,of cousere'.I didn't care.Ok,I was on the road ,and stupid me , I was speeding.Nothing happend.A car appeared in my front;and I was driving very,I mean VERY close to him.Suddenly,he breaks to enter in a parking lot, without signaling;I breaked ,...but it was useless,...I hit the car.But LUCKY ME ,nobody was hurt.I had to pay the repairing;it was really expensive. Thanks GOD that nothing bad happend.!
Now ,I maintain the speed limit, and the distance between cars.
Well, sometimes life beats imagination.
ReplyDeleteSo we/you too, can have hectic stories!
