Touristic attractions

Watch the clip below and then express your opinion on it: Do you know of similar touristic products in our country? How about in the world?

  1. I think that this is an incredible idea to transform such a strange building in a five stars hotel. And more incredible is that building with baby sculpture on it was the old communism Tv tower. In the strange hotel those who can not afford a room that cost one thousand euro a night, they can admire the views for the observatory.
We have in Bucharest also a bizar building that is the National Architects Union Headquarters. The old building was called ‘Paucescu House’ built in the second half of the nineteenth century. After 2000, the Union of Architects came into possession of the building, everyone expected the palace Paucescu to return to its brilliance by restoring original style, but what stands today looks like the top of a modern skyscraper.

  2. I heard about a similar touristic product. It is a building with 105 floors and a height of 335 meters in the shape of a pyramid in North Korea. The building will be used as a hotel - Ryugyong Hotel. It has 3000 rooms, conference rooms and offices and was declared one of the ugliest buildings in the world.

  3. The article made me really curious about the first ugliest building in the world so I googled it and I discovered the Ryugyong Hotel.
Come to be known as the “Hotel of Doom” the Ryugyong Hotel dominates the Pyongyang skyline and has been named the ugliest building in the world- I do not think it is so ugly if we consider the whole. In Roumania, I believe not the architecture is the issue, but the dirt, the garbage and the clutter in which people choose to live. In Targu Mures the architecture is simple yet really elegant- in a classic manner. Unfortunately the Roumanians are not really good entrepreneurs and do not take advantage of the opportunities.

  4. In my opinion is a very good thing that remakeover into a 5star hotel , but still I wouldn't pay 1000 euros for a room there , if I would have that money I would go at another luxurious hotel in the centre but is a very good ideea. I don't know similar touristic product in Romania without the National Architects Union Headquarters. In my opinion a very ugly building is the National Library in Pristina, Kosovo.

  5. That is a great ideea! It's a kind of recicling for old buildings, they actually reborn.
And rich people pay serious money to have an unique experience, like sleeping one night in an old tv tower. It's a business niche wich can be exploited, especially if you own something like that. This is the reason why old castles are turned into hotels, sometimes adding a little ghost story to the mix.
Another unusual hotel, allthough we're getting used with this ideea, is the Ice Hotel at Balea Lake, in winter.

  6. I think it’s a great idea to renovate an old building and do something useful. This is like ”the buyback”. You give an old thing and will receive a new one. I think that in this way the state saves money and gains a new building, which can be a masterpiece as in this video.
I heard about Hotel Windsor from Melbourne, Austria. Originally the old building was the state's treasury offices, however now is a 4.5 star hotel, complete with kitchenette rooms, small but functional lobby, sitting room, and indoor pool, spa, sauna and small gym. Rooms are huge, with small kitchenette, bathroom, with bath, cable TV, hair dryer, ironing board, safe etc. The pool is nice for a quick swim after work, and adjacent spa is a treat.

  7. In our country there is such a building, to us all the old buildings are left in ruins and this is really sad. I think it's a good idea to renovate an old building and make it helpful.

  10. For sure is a very strange building but is not the single one in the world, around the world are many strange and bizare buildings for sure and a great google search will give us a great review among them.In our country I can`t remember at the moment a strange construction maybe there is but for sure the ideea of making from an old radio post a luxury hotel is great and maybe in our town and country the damaged old constructions to be reconditioned in great ideas of hotel or restaurants.A conclude example in our town is "Cocosul de Aure" a building with a huge history but wich is not exploited at all and is such a sad thing.

    1. In English you should always mention the subject (unlike in Romanian), so you say: IT is a very strange building but IT is not ...THERE are many strange and bizzare

You are right about the old Golden Cock Restaurant in our town!

  11. First think that I want to say is that Romania is not developed enough to have such a touristic product.Abroad you can find similar products like Ripley building which is a memory of a earthquake in 1812.You can find this building in USA.

  12. It's amazing a five stars hotel in a such of tower,it will bring a lot of money, the strange ideas are well paid.In our country I don't know any buldings like this one but I can tell you that in Paris the George Pompidou center is something very strange and ugly in the middle of the city and between old and beautiful buldings. It is a big, metalic buldings made only by tubes. It houses a contemporany museum,a big library, cinema and restaurants.
