A 3-2-1 warming up at the beginning of 2013

Dear students,
I am sharing with you the fact that I am a student in an international online course where teachers of of Business English from all over the world participate, from USA, Uruguay, Argentina, Europe, Vietnam, India, China, Australia, and  a lot more, learn how to better teach their students.

In the first warming up task we had to share information about one another in a 3-2-1 way:
3 things your hometown is famous for
2 things you couldn't live without
1 thing you are looking forward to

This is what I wrote:

3 things about my town
I don’t think you’ve heard about my town, Tirgu Mures - a nice small town  of about 150 000 inhabitants, situated in central Transylvania - except for maybe the fact that the region is associated with Stoker’s novel about Count Dracula.  Romanians know it for its:
beer – Newmarkt beer,
 first class medical school,
nearby salt-water lakes.

I could not find an interesting touristic presentation of it on the Internet - This will be my first project with the Tourism students! So you must come and visit it yourselves!

2. things I couldn't live without
I would wither away without the love of my beloved ones and without water – I love swimming and the rain.

1. One thing I am looking forward to
I’m looking forward to the spring flowers and to knowing better as many of you as possible, while, of course, becoming a better teacher.

DO YOU THINK YOU COULD HELP ME WITH 3 things Tirgu Mures is famous about? I'm pretty sure you have better inspiration!

  2. We have the biggest ZOO from Romania that is placed in a forest on a hill at 488 meters above the town.

In Targu Mures we have the WeekEnd complex. There are many swimming pools, pubs, discos, restaurants a lake and many other beautiful places to visit.

Each ear Targu Mures is hosting one of the biggest rock, pop-rock, metal, dance, dupstep, ... , festival in Romania in wich the top international singers are concerting live. And that's a real piece of work :D

I have recently went o a business/holiday trip to UK, Brighton & London and I really missed our very beautiful girls.
That's right we have the most beautiful girls in all the world!

    1. Hi Ovidiu, great to see you here, finally!
I agree with your points, except for the Zoo being the biggest in Romania, only metaphorically. Likewise, I hope you don't mean we have beautiful girls only in Tg.Mures :-(

    2. Targu Mures looks like every city , maybe it`s cleaner. Many people dont read stories about the city`s past. I think most of us dont know that , in place of the Ortodox Cathedral it was a singing fountain. And in Tg-Mures was the last process of witchcraft from Transilvania !

      Very interesting things!

    3. The Targu Mures ZOO is not the second in the country, it's really the first, I know my town because I Love IT :) we have 40 hectares of land and a modernization over 5 million euro.
The European ZOO Association brought a elephant trough one of their projects in to Romania's biggest ZOO.
Don't believe me, see the news right here: http://goo.gl/E4xfM

Well ... miss Tourism Europe is a Romanian girl from Bucharest but I do prefer and consider more beautiful the girls that are from Transylvania, like Targu Mures and Sighisoara :)

  3. One of the beautiful things in Targu Mures is the Week-End complex which it was designed and used since the end of the nineteenth century. Now it is a modern place where you can go to relax and refresh in the hot summer days.Other interesting things are the Culture Palace situated in the center of the city and even if my coleagues mentioned it I must say about the Zoo because it is my favourite place from the city. Here you can walk for hours,it is so quiet, and because the zoo is in the woods the air is much cleaner than in the city.

I couldn't live without love, because I think that without it we are only death people walking and the second thing that is essential for me to live is the sun.

I'm looking forward to find a job that I would really enjoy.

  4. There are lots of things to say about Targu Mures. I think the most important is the fortress of the town, which became an entertainment place where are kept shows. It was built in 1492. In the gate fort was opened a museum in 1613 which presented the history of the town. Nevertheless, every year, when are Targu Mures’s days, people come there remember the bygone days and to have fun with their friends. Another important thing is that Targu Mures is a university center. Lots of people come from other countries to study here, especially to University of Medicine and Pharmacy. The third thing about Targu Mures that everybody heard is Week-End Complex. There you can go to Peninsula Festival in the summer. There come important foreign singers and bands and also people from Romania and outside come to see them.

  5. 3. Targu Mures is a small town, but it's famous for it's institutions and entertaining places, like the General County Hospital where are cured many people from all the country, mainly on summertime you can spend your holiday at the Weekend Complex, at Platoul Cornesti were you can visit the beautiful Zoo and you can take part to the Peninsula Festival, which is already well-known even abroad. 2. I couldn't live for a long time without my family and friends because their support and love is very important in my life, and certainly I couldn't live without fresh air, woods and all the nature we are surrounded. 1. I looking forward to the summertime days when we are om holiday and we can have fun, and I looking forward to graduated the university to become a well prepared young person in her domain.

  6. Ionel, it's so funny because when I read your post I understood that the hospital is a place for entertainment! I think you should use more full stops.

I look forward is always followed by a verb in -ing (if you speak about an action) : I look forward to graduating (please read other posts, because I explained that before)

And finally you will become a well prepared person in your domain not "her domain".

  7. Every time I went abroad people asked me about mu country and especially about my hometown. Most of the joked or sometimes where being serious about visiting Tg. Mures I like to be honest so I am saying that Tg. Mures is not much different than any other medium size city in Romania, but when I talked to foreign people from USA, Hong Kong or Australia I recommended Tg. Mures for fun and relaxation. For a tourist we have cheap food, cheap motels, we have Weekend, lots of pubs and bars filled with friendly girls and and people that like tourists. I also recommend the local fruit, the country side, the late night cheating and drinking (not in a pub or club), soccer and day to day activities that don't seem much, but trust me, all the people from big cities that I talked to, seemed interested in these king of activities.

    1. Clau, what do you mean by late night cheating?

    2. :))) I meant chatting.. talking. Sorry!

    3. I was sure you knew, it was just to make you more careful with spelling, because, unlike speaking, writing remains. And we were just talking about how important punctuation and spelling is!

  8. Tirgu Mures is one of the cleanest cities in Romania with very good people, compared to the other big cities in the country. The Zoo is the biggest in Romania but doesn't attract so many people as it should be, because very big and beautiful.

    1. Alexandru, please read the comments on every post before you comment.
For example there was a question here about "the Zoo". Read the comments above and see what the problem was.

The last phrase "beacuse very big and beautiful" does not make sense, it sounds like Google translation. Can you explain what you mean?

    2. that the Zoo in Tg. Mures is I don't know for sure the biggest in Romania but in my opinion very big in comparison with other Zoo's where I have been

    3. I meant the sentence was ungrammatical and illogical, that's why I asked you to rephrase it.

  9. I would also mention Targu Mures' top attraction the Culture Palace- a flamboyant early 20th century city hall, the Prefecture Building, Teleki Library, the Fortress... I think that we have a beautiful town, full of history. I agree with Clau, we have great, good and cheap food and drinks.

  10. One of the most important things my hometown is famous for is the Cornesti plateau that is beautifully arranged especially for children and also with the Zoo. Another place in Targu Mures is the Teleki Library that contains a large collection of important manuscripts documenting Transylvanian history, as well as mathematical and scientific works. Another thing Targu Mures is famous for is the Week-end Complex where you can relax in the pools or at the sport fields.

  11. I would mention some of the surroundings like the Stork Reservation in Dumbravioara, or maybe the violin factory in Reghin, the Mures Valley, the salty lake and the ski slope in Sovata, the salt mine in Praid. And that's about it, that I came up with!

  12. I think Targu Mures is famous for the University of Medicine and Pharmacy , that is the one of the most prestigious public higher education institutions in Romania with a multicultural and multilingual status ;for the Medieval Fortress , that is found in the center of Targu Mures and its resort has an area of 4,3 hectares and consists of a fortified enclosure with 7 towers connected by walls; and the 3 rd one I think is the “Entertainment Complex –Mures” , known as “ Weekend” that in recent years, had systematic improvements and is the primary means of entertainment in summer.
