Sunny Brighton - WebQuest

My latest trip was in Brighton, UK.

The first thing I learned about this town was from the coach driver at the airport, who, after controlling my ticket said: 'Travelling to sunny Brighton'. And it was indeed sunny! So much unlike Britain and even so much unlike the British seaside - as they jokingly admit of having summer in one afternoon.

In order to find more about Brighton and the Sussex area, I'd like you to search the web and find how is this seaside town different from a Romanian seaside town.

Examine pictures, look at the buildings, at the people. How are they similar/different?

What are its highlights? Is there any aspect that you found particularly interesting about it? Waiting to see your impressions of your virtual trip to Brighton!

  1. Compared to the Romanian seaside towns Brighton is bigger and more modern and well-developed. It is quite a large town, with a population of half a million to which 8 million tourists are added each year. From what I've seen on the internet it is a really beautiful town, and I'd like to visit the Royal Pavilion which reminds me of the Taj Mahal and the Palace Pier because it has a huge funfair. The water also seems very clear and the beaches clean as compared to the ones in Romania. What I found particularly interesting about Brighton was that it can compete with resorts from the Fiji Islands though it is located in Britain which doesn’t have such a nice weather.

  2. Compared with Roumania, Brighton is bigger and more modern.
Roumania has all the naturals condition to became one of the most important destination touristic on the whole Europe, on the other hand the sunny Brighton has all these things and much more than that.
The tourism from Roumania is pointes on naturals landscapes and her’s history, likely is Sunny Brighton but there the landscapes are well organized and the people can relax and forghet about many things and live in harmony with their soul’s and body’s.
The tourists of Roumania can’t be compared with the millions of tourists from the sunny brighton.
The principals area of Roumania are The litoral of the Balck Sea ( Mamaia, Costanta,Guardians), the north of Moldova, the area of Brasov, the Valey of Prahova …,but the sunny…,but the sunny brighton is muchbigger and well-developed.
The Sunny Brighton is a city build with hard work, a very developed city with millions of people like the tourists for example.
Sunny Brighton has his charm and a very big and nice city.the buildings are massive and there is a very worm and beautiful place for visit it.

  3. The city of Brighton is one of the largest resorts in the United Kingdom
This region is a mixture of historic cities, quiet villages and stunning scenery. South-east England has much to offer visitors with a great history. Seeing pictures impressed me sandy beach, clear water, quite different from our beaches. The area is famous for it's very active nightlife with plenty of space for games and family entertainment. Compared with the beaches of Brighton, on the Romanian coast, the weather is beautiful, cloudless with temperatures over 33 degrees Celsius.
I would like to live there.

The water also seems very clean and clear compared to the ones in Roumania.Black Sea is one of the principals area of Roumania and I recomanded it everyone to visit.

  5. Brighton is a city on the southern coast of the United Kingdom, the most famous British coastal resort is attracting over 8 million visitors annually. Seeing the pictures both water and beaches are much cleaner than those of Romania, building are also great.
The city has an art and a world-class culture, restaurant and tolerance for alternative lifestyles.

  6. Brighton is much cleaner that any Romanian seaside town. Also, there is the Brighton Festival, which is the second largest festival in England. It is also one of Britain's premier nightlife hotspots. It has very clean beaches and the water is also clean, and there are a lot of tourists visiting Brighton every year. In 1984, a bomb was planted into a hotel, resulting in 5 casualties.

  7. In terms of telecommunications in Brighton, public passenger transportation is more common in tourist buses, compared to Roumania which are taxis.May be noted that the buses in Brighton have written beside the name of the destination and the name of personalities such as:Anne Of Clevens, Henry Allingham, Elizabeth Allan, Maria Fitzherbert. What in Roumania we didn’t see.

  8. Compared to Roumania the city of Brithton is more modern, cleaner, biggest and the art and culture is more fascinating in Brithton than in Roumania.

  9. The city of Brighton is stunning ,everything is so beauty, clear, the buildings and the culture are so different here.I saw so much pictures with this city and i really would like to live here and also to visit Royal Pavilion,Palace Pier,Brighton's Kemp Town beach. No wonder that every year came here a lot of tourists,it's a "little piece of heaven"

  10. Compared with Romania the city of Brithton is more populated and there are many more buildings. In Roumania in summer time the country is empty, 50% of the population from Roumania go on holliday in diferent countries. There the seaside is full and a lot of people visit that town.

  12. Florin,

  13. After I came back from my virtual trip to Brighton , I must say that, comapared to the Romanian costs and seaside towns, Brighton is bigger, is very modern and is more cleaner. The seafront has bars, restaurants, nightclubs and amusament arcades. Beeing less than an hour away from London by train has made the city a popular destination.
I can`t say that the Romanian seaside towns are not beautiful , but they need to develop much more to attract more tourists.

  14. I want to present the museums and art galleries for all who have a passion for this. In Brighton you can visit 26 commercial galleries and about 13 museums. I mention the next ones: Booth Museum of Natural History, Brighton Fishing Museum, First Light Photographic Gallery, Chameleon Gallery, Gallery 100. Let's see what we have in Constanta... I can enumerate just 1 gallery and 9 museums: Complexul Muzeal de Stiinte ale Naturii Constanta, Acvariu Constanta, Galeriile de Arta "Palas" and Muzeul Marii. For sure, in Brighton are more things to see, but try to take a look at the Romanian seaside too. :)

  15. "Visiting" Brighton obviously you like more than Mamaia or any other Romanian resort. You admire the large opening of the sea,the modern buildings and hotels, the cleaner part of them which definitely miss in our seaside resorts.Brighton stretches along modern look of the city and this definitely makes you love it.As I've read it is a very popular tourist destination and is very well developed a business area.People look more relaxed and happy than we are, still we are lucky to have an opening to the sea in Romania even if it's not the most modern one or cleaner one, maybe one day we'll learn how to renewed a Romanian resort.

  16. Brighton is a very popular city from the south side of England. It is an important landmark full with tourists. They got a lot of museums and beautiful places like Brighton Pavilion for example. We can't compare this place with our places because the difference is very big.We don't have beaches prepaerd for tourists and the tourism in Romania is very weak.

  17. Well, I don't think that Brighton can be compared to any of the Romanian sea-sides. I mean the differences between the two countries, Romania and England are pretty obvious. They have a much more cleaner water, better services and a the employees have a way better behavior. I can't complain to much, Romania has it's strong points but I think the weaker points are a lot more and that's why people prefer other sea-side stations, most of them rather go to Bulgarian then in their own country and I think that says a lot about the quality of our sea-side resorts.

  18. The Brighton Seafront has bars, restaurants, nightclubs and amusement arcades, principally between the piers. Being less than an hour from London by train has made the city a popular destination.
Some of Brighton's most important tourist attractions include the spectacular Royal Pavilion - without doubt one of the most beautiful and unusual landmarks in the Brighton and Hove area, attracting almost 400,000 visitors each year.
The most important resort in Romania is Mamaia, situated north of the city of Constanta.Mamaia is a resort with a very dynamic development; the tourists have got used to the fact that they are welcomed here with new surprises every year: palm trees, Aqua Magic (a water park), artesian wells, the Telegondola (a modern cable-railway), decker buses etc.
I think that both resorts have their own beauty and charm.

  19. The first aspect that stands out is the architecture of the buildings in pictures. They are constructed in a specific classic UK style unlike the Romanian coast, where buildings are different from each other and not have a particular architectural style, tend to be modern. A common point, both Coastal are full of people that are enjoying the sun and sea.

  20. Is there any term of comparison between the two seasides? Oh no… it doesn't. At the following I will try to do my best to explain why that is. England has approx 25 mil tourists every year. Romania has approx 3.5 mil. Would you want to speak about the tourism budget allocated by the government? Or about the foreign investments? I was never in Great Brittan. But I was in France and in Spain. The first and the second in a world number of tourist classification. I think everything goes from the infrastructure. In Romania we don't have it. It's really missing at least comparing with the rest of the countries of UE. We have only one airport at the seaside. In all our country we have 300 km of highways. Spain has at least 10000 km. France has over 18000 approved hotels. Romania has about 900 hotels. The level of civilization in England is beyond imaginable for some Romanian people. With all this, I think we could do better with more projects for development from tourist ministry.
But still… I like Vama Veche. An authentically Romanian place of having a lot of fun!!

  21. The first thing i noticed about Brighton beaches is that the have allot of little rocks on them, and we have very fine sand.
A good thing that they have is well grown grass, something that we don't
The buildings are not that tall, i don't they have any blocs like we do, i think almost all of them live in houses.

I haven't been to our sea side since 97' so i can't really compare 2 seaside cities but all in all i doesn't look very different than a romanian city.

  22. Even the comparison of whatsoever Romanian coastline city and Brighton is in the detriment of the first one because of our mentality. Even if Brighton is a beautiful place to visit, has all the facilities and offers you a "bright" perspective of life, Romania has a brilliant necklace of seaside places which can be considered more interesting and beautiful than any others in the world. But due to the bad management of the tourism and our mentality as I mentioned before, we lose very much.It is easier for some of our Romanians to just throw the garbage wherever he/goes, to build constructions wherever it fits not thinking at the environment and so forth.

  24. First of all, we can't compare the Romanians with the Britishes, as people I mean. Each nation has one different mentality so the determination to do some things is different. This includes the seasides...of course the British seasides are likely more beautiful than ours. Why? It's simple, because they don't think the way we do. They can be responsable in many ways, they have acces to those kind of things every day, we don't, so when we have, we behave like we never saw something like that before even if we had. Our mentality determinates our behavior. Of course we can't compare Brighton with Mamaia for example. Brighton is bigger, cleaner, and more beautiful than Mamaia. That doesn't mean we can't become a nation like Britain...think about it.

  25. Brighton is a charming city and famous seaside resort in on the south coast of England. In the summer, the pebble beach is covered in tourists and Brightonians alike. Water sports are quite popular from Brighton beach. There beaches are much cleaner than those of Romania. Compared with Romania the city of Brithton is more modern, populated and there are many more buildings.

  27. In my opinion, Brighton is one of the most beautiful seaside resorts in the whole Europe. I've never been there but out of curiosity I searched about it on google and I was like WOW! I don't think that you can compare it with anything Romania has. There's just no point in doing this. They have it all - beautiful views, nice hotels, very good services, clean water. We have these to but we can't compare ours to theirs.

  28. Creative ,colorfull and vibrant, this is Bringhton!
The very first thing is that there are more turists in Bringhton than in Romania. The turism is higher in Bringhton.
Brightly coloured beach huts are an essential part of the British coast;they go together with ice creams, sandcastles.
The seafront has bars, restaurants, nightclubs and amusement arcades, principally between the piers. It's more fun and more beautiful than in Romania. At least that's what I saw in the pictures.

  29. From the pictures that I've seen on the internet, I was amazed. It's clearly , Brighton seems more realistic; It has big structures with modern design.I really liked the beaches;they are clean!:D
I would like to go and visit Brighton; and the first thing that I would visit ,is the casino(I saw a nice casino in the pictures, but I don't know what's the name of it).
A very impressive thing and as expected, Brighton is on the 4th place in the top beaches in Europe.
    Well,that's all.
