  1. I will tell you about a true story that happened many years ago,is about my great grandfather and his unheard stories.
He told me one day about the World War 2 and what happened one day.I don't remember all the story that he told me but I'll go straight to the subject.
It was a very cold day in Russia,he had to obey the orders of his officers and more that the orders he had to endure the cold weather..
He fought with his only cousin they were in the same squadron and fought like one man, until that tragic day when they have to cross a very cold river, the water were above their chest, when my great grandfather's cousin was shot...
My great grandfather was damaged near the eye,but the love for his only cousin was greater than the pain that he had to endure.
He drag the corpse of his cousin out of the water, then he carry him until he arrived in the 'base',then the officers told him to return on the battlefield and he disobey that order and somehow the officer send him and his dead cousin back in Romania,Cetatea De Balta, and make him a funeral, then he went back on the battlefield.
Is a very sad story, and I didn't expand it so much if anyone want to hear almost the whole story ask me.

  2. My grandmother told me that, when she was a little girl she had to take care about her brothers and sisters. The World War affected her life because her twin-sister died. She wasn't shot or killed. She had to give birth to her baby, but without special care, she and her little baby died. It was a big shock for the family. It was a hard period, when if they wanted to stay alive they had to eat vegetables and unprepaired food and had to drink dirty water.

  3. My great grandfather was born in 1911. This means that he lived during both World Wars. In those days, life was very hard but he had a good job, he was train conductor so, he had the oportunity to roam all the country. In time, he met my great grandmother, wich has 94 years at the moment! They had three beautiful kids, two girls and a boy who had a good education. Unfortunately, in 1986 he deceased. I wasn`t borned in that time but my grandparents told me a lot about him.

  6. My grandfather from my mother's side was born in 1905, and he had an identical twin. Because they were born in a poor and big family, in 1925 my grandfather's brother left to America, hoping to a better life for him and for his family. Unfortunatelly, from that moment on, nobody heared anything from the twin that left to America, and my grandfather died in 1979, sad because he never saw his brother or heared anything from him.

  8. My grandparents were wonderful people. They have seven children:three boys and four girls. At that time, was not at all easy to maintain a large family, but somehow they managed. They alone have built a beautiful house where my mother grew up.Unfortunately my grandmother died 10 years ago, but my grandfather is still alive.

  9. My grandmother told me that when she was two her father died working in the forest. Her mother remarried giving life to six other siblings. Because she was the eldest she had to take care of her brothers. With a stepfather who liked alcohol she led a very hard life although she had land for which she received money and wood, the money was used for her brothers and she was left with nothing. At that time there was the World War II and we were not a rich family and therefore we hardly had anything to eat. The time passed and her mother forced her to marry a man she did not love, but she married for her mother's sake and because she led a very hard life at home. After a while she divorced her husband because he treated her without respect. She then married my grandfather, then her mother passed away at the age of 46, when she had to take care of some of the brothers. From this marriage two boys were born, beautiful and healthy and a third one was born dead putting her life in danger. This marrinage was not ideal either because of different religions - grandmother orthodox and grandfather Baptist. After several years my grandfather changed religion and they began to live a somewhat quieter life working in agriculture. In the last 10 years of her life her health deteriorated so badly that she became bedridden. She died at the age of 79 on 10 December 2007 :(. Maybe there she found her peace of mind and the relief of her pain.:(

  11. I had no grandparents with outstanding references, but grandma's brother was someone important for us.He dedicated his life to flowers. These flowers form the reservation from Zau de Campie, that is unique in Europe. He takes care of the peonies walking 14 km every day to see them and care.He did his best so that this beautiful reservation should become an important and visited place. In 1932 this place was considered a natural monument by the academician Alexandru Borza. We are proud of this man who kept a half-century plants.

  14. Botond,
I hope you learn something new here too:
    1. you always use PAST Tense when you tell a story about the past, never the present, so you say nobody knew where he WAS, WAS he alive or dead.
    2. than = decat, then = apoi
    3. BELIEVE

  15. The story you are about to read is indeed a true story about my grandfather. This story is told from parent to child, my father told it to me just like his father told it to him.
It began during the second world war. The country was in chaos, and trouble was lurking at every corner. His family was one of the few remaining alive after a bombardment over the city.
After searching the entire area for survivors, he found several people which were determined to leave the area because it had no future for them. My grandfather decided it was time to take matters in to his own hands so he gathered all the people and took them far away from that deserted area to a new ground, where they founded a little village in the mountains. After a while they went back to the war zone to search for other survivors. The search was in vain because everybody was gone..the war had ended..
They returned to their little village to tell the people the good news, and also the bad ones: no one else survived...

  16. Honestly, I do not remember too well my grandfather because I was very small, but my grandmother always told me about it. she always told me that he was diligent and that left her entire fortune to his children. Great-grandfather had five children and all that has gathered a wealth while he was alive he divided it into five before he died, so as not to be problems after his death, his children because he did not want to argue because fortunes, as it happens in other families.

  17. We all heard stories about brave people. We tried to learn from them at our best. But when it comes to stories that make us tremble, they are the ones we are involved in. Though our, or I should say mine, stories are not as big or as important as the ones listed above me.
I would like to confess, I can not remember a story from my family that good. But I would like to say that I have tried to learn from others and found it very hard. Even if we are faced with hardships in our lives it is best to “turn the other cheek” and say: “ I have leaned something out of this because I am strong and I survived!” Thank you

  18. If it wasn't for my grandfather I wouldn't be here today writing this comment. He forced my father to marry my mother. I now that's not the most romantic love story ever written ... :)
He was so honest and hard worker. Everyone had a huge respect for him. He died when I was 7 years old. I didn't get to now him very well, but I remember that he loved me and my brothers very much.He kept the family together. He was the best.

  20. Indeed each of us there really is a life story but should not be dramatized and go on even if it is very difficult in these days of shortages generally speaking, and if more mistakes and ,must learn from mistakes,to be honest with us himself and never forget who we are.

  21. Luciana,
the story is somehow specific for those times but rather intriguing in the end - I guess you meant it to be like that, like a real writer.

Was the little girl waiting for your great granda with her grandmother? Did you want to imply something else?

    ReplyDelete
  22. This story is true, I know this from my father. The little girl who was waiting for my great grandfather with his mother is actually my grandmother. She had five years, when my great grandfather returned home.

  23. It is a story about my grandmother and my grandfather. They were two simple persons. My grandfather was in the army and my grandmother was a refugee, before they met.My grandfather had an accident when he was on patrol,an antitank grenade exploded near him.He had a very lucky day.He didn't had major injuries but his hearing was affected.I consider this an important part of my life existence, which influenced my life existence.

  24. Luciana,
the little girl was waiting with HIS (great grandfather's) or HER (the girl's) mother?
    I think you're making a mistake here!?

  29. The following story is about my grandfather who lived in a small town called Baita. Things were not going to well in this town and for his family, so he decided it was time to take matters into his own hands. After several days of thinking, he thought it was a good ideea to try and get a job in "the big city". Said and done, he later went to Targu Mures where he had a nephew, he asked if he could stay there for a while until he found a job and a place to live. In a short while, all this was acomplished and he went back to his town to get his family and they all moved to Targu Mures. Everything was ok ever since.
